BULGARIAN WINE IS BOOMING
IS BULGARIA POISED to make a splash in the global wine industry? That could well be the case after the country saw exports rise by an impressive 13% in 2O17. Overall, 17,517,139 tons of wine was produced and €17,432,629 million (US $2O,971,8O1) worth of wine were exported. While Bulgaria may not rank with France, Spain and Italy when one thinks of wine, it nonetheless has long been associated with the country’s culture and it is one of its top ten most exported products. Bulgarian wines are slowly but steadily working their way into the mainstream wine industry having been featured in both THE DRINKS BUSINESS and the WASHINGTON POST. Who knows, perhaps Bulgarian wines could be gracing menus in the not too distant future!
