THE ULTIMATE HANGOVER CURE?
FROM THE “hair of the dog” to Gatorade to greasy food, there have long been many remedies to the dreaded hangover. Unfortunately, none of them really work. But there’s a company out there claiming to have invented a true cure. A convenience store chain in South Korea has launched an ice cream bar that purports to combat the after-effects of drinking alcohol. The grapefruit-flavored Gyeondyo-bar, which translates as “hang in there”, is said to be the first ice cream bar to be marketed as a hangover cure. Its name is intended to “express the hardships of employees who have to suffer a working day after heavy drinking, as well as to provide comfort to those who have to come to work early after frequent nights of drinking”, according to the chain. The ice cream contains O.7% oriental raisin tree fruit juice, a traditional Korean hangover remedy that has also been scientifically proven to reduce symptoms of intoxication in rats. While it’s only available in South Korea, if it actually works expect to see online sales skyrocket.
