CASILLERO DEL DIABLO

 – This label from Concha y Toro has three additions to its “Devil’s Cellar” line.  The 2O11 Reserva Winemaker’s Red Blend is comprised of Syrah, Carmenere and Cabernet Sauvignon that is aged in French and American oak.  The nose and palate offer notes of spice, black cherry, bitter chocolate, and toasted coconut.  The 2O11 Reserva Coastal White from Chile’s Limarí Valley pairs Chardonnay with Moscato and has flavors of pineapple, peach, orange blossom, and Bartlett pear.  There is also a 375ml dessert wine – the 2OO9 Late Harvest Sauvignon Blanc from Maule Valley.  Tropical and stone fruits, especially papaya, peach and apricot, on the nose and palate, this wine has an uplifting acidity due to a Sauvignon Blanc base, rounded out with Riesling and Gewürztraminer and a stainless steel treatment.  Suggested retail is $12 for all three.  Available from Horizon Beverage Company.
