PROVENCE IN THE CITY
Gaslight Brasserie in Boston’s South End recently hosted Vins de Provence for a “Provence in the City” wine tasting event. The wines showcased were predominantly rosés, although some whites and reds were poured. Members of the trade and media sampled wines from 18 participating domaines including: Abbaye Saint Hilaire; Château d’Esclans – Domaines Sacha Lichine; Château de Brigue; Château de Pourcieux; Château de Saint Martin; Château Gassier; Château Minuty; Château Roubine – Cru Classé; Château Sainte Marguerite; Château Saint Pierre; Château Thuerry; Domaine de la Fouquette; Domaine de Rimauresq; Domaine du Grand Cros; Famille Sumeire; Le Cercle des Vignerons de Provence; Les Vins Bréban; and Maîtres Vignerons de Saint-Tropez.
The Conseil Interprofessionnel des Vins de Provence (CIVP), known in the US as the Provence Wine Council, is an organization representing more than 6OO Provence wine producers and 72 trade companies. Its mission is to promote and advance the wines of the Provence region of France. The organization’s members together produce 95 percent of Provence’s Appellation d’Origine Controlee (AOC) wines.
