Aged for nearly two years in small French and American oak barrels, the Sonoma County Merlot has forward aromas of blackberry, cigar box and baking spice.  Raspberry and blueberry fruit dominate the medium-bodied flavors, together with hints of toasty oak and spice.  Suggested retail is $14.  Also aged in small French and American oak barrels, the Jack London Vineyard Merlot displays ripe plum and blackberry fruit, accented by notes of mocha, espresso and clove.  The powerful flavors combine plum, black cherry, clove, and mint.  Suggested retail is $22.  Available from Horizon Beverage Company.
