KORBEL 2OO8 RIESLING CALIFORNIA CHAMPAGNE
The grapes for this vintage were harvested significantly riper than is typical for champagne production, to allow development of the variety’s intrinsic character.  To preserve this, the cuvée base wine was cold-fermented, with fermentation stopped by chilling to retain significant residual sugar.  Secondary méthode champenoise fermentation in the bottle was completed using the natural residual sugar.  Pale straw color and fine bubbles lead to forward aromas of lilac, apricot and orange blossom, accented by a subtle note of yeast.  Apricot, lemon and clove honey highlight the flavors.  Suggested retail is $15.99.  Available from Horizon Beverage Company.
