PATRON BUY-THE-BARREL

MOVE over bourbon, tequila barrels are rolling into town. Patron Spirits has inaugurated “Patrón Barrel Select”, a buy-the-barrel program where retailers and on-premise accounts are able to taste and choose their own bespoke barrel – about 27 cases – of aged Patrón tequila, exclusive just to them. Every barrel is unique, and each has been in the aging room for a specific period of time. One of the first retailers in the country to purchase a barrel was Kappy’s Wine & Spirits. After tasting several samples, they chose a Reposado for their stores: Lot #18, Barrel #5, to be exact. It’s a blend of tahona and roller mill produced tequila.
