HARPOON VERMONT SPRUCE TIP ALE

HARPOON VERMONT SPRUCE TIP ALE
This is the 39th offering from Harpoon’s 1OO Barrel Series, the brewery’s line of handcrafted limited-batch beers.  The Vermont Spruce Tip Ale was brewed using spruce tips harvested from Vermont’s Downer State Forest.  This release is a showcase for a traditional yet seldom used brewing ingredient: spruce tips.  They were used in the same way finishing hops might be used, with additions late in the boil and in the whirlpool.  Harvested at their tender, ripe, bright green peak, the spruce tips impart citrus, pine, spice, herbal, and earthy notes.  A host of malts, roasted barley and use of Chinook hops complement the spruce flavor.  Suggested retail is $5.99 to $6.99 per 22-ounce bottle.  Available in bottles and limited draft from Harpoon Distributing, Merrimack Valley Distributing and Williams Distributing Corp.
