Handcrafted and batch-distilled in a copper pot still in Freeport, Maine, this new gin from Cold River Distilleries is based on a 4OO-year-old traditional recipe using seven traditional botanicals.  From ground to glass, it is made in one distillery using ingredients entirely from Maine.  The gin’s nose is juniper-forward, resinous and fresh.  Supporting the juniper are citrus and coriander, followed by a floral earthiness.  The taste balances juniper and bitter lemon with sweet orange and aromatic coriander.  Juniper flavors are complemented by the rich bitterness of angelica root and cardamom.  The finish is long, warm and dry, full of clean juniper flavor, earthy bitterness and cardamom spice.  Suggested retail is $25.99 for a 75Oml.  Available from United Liquors.
