Boston Iron Bartender Competition

On Monday, November 16, M Bar and Lounge hosted the first ever (ri)1 Boston Iron Bartender Competition. Eight teams made up of two bartenders each were challenged to create signature cocktails using (ri)1 rye whiskey. First Place went to Laris Gacanovic and Guillaume Rousseau (Team Europa) of M Bar & Lounge for their cocktail, the Sparkling Date. Second Place went to John Lermayer and Bill Codman (Team Woodward) of The Woodward for the Toasted Rye. The People’s Choice award also went to Team Woodward. Third Place went to Michael Paquette and Christina Presente (Team Modern (ri)1 ot) of Splash Ultra Lounge for Autumn in Manhattan. First prize consisted of a 3 day, 2 night trip to the Jim Beam Distillery in Clermont, Kentucky and a $5OO American Express gift card. The second place prize was a (ri)1 orange iPod nano and $5O American Express gift card to each contestant. The third place prize was a $1OO American Express gift card to each contestant. The People’s Choice award was a $1OO American Express gift card and a custom (ri)1 messenger bag, business card holder and rocks glass to each contestant.
