The First Annual Worcester Restaurant Week

Almost 5O Worcester area restaurants will be joining together for the first annual Worcester Restaurant Week taking place from August 3 to 14. The first two weeks of August are a traditionally slow period in the restaurant industry and this event will serve to give locally owned establishments a boost in sales. The local business community has really come together to support the effort. Among the Presenting Sponsors are: KJ Baaron’s Fine Wine & Spirits UniBank and The Worcester County Visitors and Convention Bureau. Sponsors include Atlas Distributors, Consolidated Beverage, Performance Food Service, Winn Companies, Infodiligo, GoBare, Integrity Merchant Solutions, and Enterprise Cleaning. Participating restaurants are also receiving support from a host of media outlets including pulse magazine, vitality magazine, TasteWorcester.com, The WRTA, and radio stations WCRN, WXLO, Oldies 98.9, and 1OO FM The Pike. According to event co-chair Katie Krock of KJ Baaron’s Fine Wine & Spirits, “Diners will be able to dine at some of the area’s finest restaurants during the two week period for $2O.O9 for a prix fixe 3-course meal.”

“This would be a great bargain at any time of year,” said fellow co-chair Michael Covino of the Worcester based Niche Hospitality Group, owner of four of the participating restaurants.
The Massachusetts Office of Travel & Tourism, The Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce and Worcester’s two state senators, Harriett Chandler and Michael Moore, have been key supporters of the event.
