BEANTOWN’S NEW DISTILLERY
THERE’S a new kid on the distillery block in Boston. Boston Harbor Distillery (BHD) will soon open at The Port on Boston Harbor in Dorchester. Housed in a pre-Civil War era building, BHD will serve as both a distilling facility and an event space, tasting room and mercantile with bar tools and accessories. It will also host classes. The distillery’s spirits will be branded with the names of early Massachusetts entrepreneurs who once occupied the same site: Putnam New England Whiskey, Lawley’s New England Spirit and Seymour’s Coffee Liqueur. Award-winning Master Distiller John Couchot leads the program. The Distillery is founded by beverage industry veteran Rhonda Kallman, CEO, and Proprietor Corey Bunnewith. As an early pioneer, Kallman, who co-founded Boston Beer Company, was instrumental in paving the way for craft beer acceptance by making it available throughout the US and for women in the industry to earn credibility. Bunnewith is a beverage industry expert and longtime bartender. In 2O11 he, launched Inspired Beverage, a brand management firm in New England for craft spirits and boutique wines.
