POLITICS AND LIBATIONS
DO YOU PREFER light or dark spirits? Red or white wine? A Bud or a craft beer? As it turns out, your answer may be a good indicator of your political orientation. According to new research, Democrats prefer clear drinks, while their Republican counterparts would rather enjoy a serving of brown liquor. Liberals seem to enjoy Grey Goose and Smirnoff vodkas, while Republicans opt for Wild Turkey and Jim Beam whiskey. Champagne appears to be a drink for individuals on the left. But, the research doesn’t stop there: the type of wine someone consumes may also shed some light into voting habits. Someone drinking a glass of Charles Shaw is likely to lean left, while a person enjoying a bottle of Kendall-Jackson probably votes Republican. However, some drinks appear to be enjoyed universally by both parties. Jägermeister, The Glenlivet and Bailey’s are widely consumed by people identifying with both political parties. The research was done based on data supplied by consumer analyst group GFK MRI and evaluated by the National Media Research Planning and Placement. The chart is worth a look.
