2O13 SAMUEL ADAMS UTOPIAS

2O13 SAMUEL ADAMS UTOPIAS – Blended with a variety of brews, some of which have been aged in barrels for more than 2O years, this year’s Utopias is now available.  For the first time it was also blended with Kosmic Mother Funk, a barrel-aged ale which imparts cherry and plum fruit notes with a bit of sourness and earthiness.  Brewers also aged a portion of the beer in single-use bourbon casks from Buffalo Trace which enhanced its notes of vanilla and maple.  Additionally, the release spent time in Port casks which contribute dark fruit aromas.  The resulting un-carbonated brew has notes of fig, a subtle sweetness and a rich malty smoothness.  Only 1OO barrels were bottled.  28% ABV, suggested retail is $199.  Available from Atlas Distributing, Burke Distributing, Commercial Distributing, L.Knife & Son, and Merrimack Valley Distributing.
