SAMUEL ADAMS UTOPIAS

SAMUEL ADAMS UTOPIAS – The 1Oth anniversary release of the Samuel Adams Utopias is a blend of liquids, some of which have been aged in a variety of wood barrels for 19 years.  This long aging process enhances the beer’s vanilla and maple notes and its high alcohol content creates a heated aroma of ginger and cinnamon.  As a result, the Utopias is reminiscent of a rich port, Cognac or aged Sherry.  A blend of 2-row Caramel and Munich malts impart the rich ruby-black color while Noble hops – Hallertau Mittelfrueh, Spalt Spalter and Tettnang Tettnanger – add complexity and balance. It has sweet flavors of honey, toffee, caramel, cocoa and vanilla balanced by notes of molasses, raisins, plums and berries.  Brewed with ale yeast and a yeast typically reserved for champagne, it is finished in single-use bourbon casks from Buffalo Trace Distillery. Bottled in a specially-designed black decanter, only 15,OOO bottles were released with a retail price of $16O. Available from Available from Atlas Distributing, Burke Distributing, Commercial Distributing, L.Knife & Son and Merrimack Valley Distributing.
