SAMUEL ADAMS 2O12 LONGSHOT VARIETY PACK
SAMUEL ADAMS 2O12 LONGSHOT VARIETY PACK
-The winners of the 2O11 Samuel Adams LongShot American Homebrew Contest are being featured in a variety six-pack. Texas resident Corey Martin’s A Dark Night in Munich (Munich Dunkel style) and Illinois resident Joe Formanek’s Five Crown Imperial Stout triumphed over nearly 1OOO other homebrew entries. To develop his Dark Night in Munich recipe and the rich color of the beer, Corey used a “staining” process in which he powdered the roasted malts and added them early on in the brewing process. The rich Munich malt sweetness comes through in the aroma of this traditional Bavarian wheat beer and the light caramel notes round out the brew for a smooth, creamy finish. The Five Crown is a malt-forward Russian Imperial Stout style beer that combines the rich malt character with roasted barley and chocolate notes to balance the bitter hops undertones. The full-bodied stout has a sweet aroma with fruit esters. This warming winter brew finishes with a malty complexity. The six-pack will also feature Employee Homebrew Winner Fred Hessler’s Derf’s Secret Alt. A take on the Düsseldorf Altbier style, Fred’s version has a full-bodied and well-hopped taste, with a balance between bitterness and nutty-malty sweetness. It has strong notes of chocolate and roasted malt and the flavor complexity of an ale with the hop makeup and creamy head of a pils. The variety pack will include two bottles each of the three winners with a suggested retail price of $9.99. Available from Atlas Distributing, Burke Distributing, Commercial Distributing, L.Knife & Son, and Merrimack Valley Distributing.
