BUD LIGHT GOES PLATINUM

If it’s not a Bud Light and it’s not a Bud, what is it? Platinum! Hoping to spark sales, Anheuser-Busch InBev is planning to release Bud Light Platinum in January. Platinum will have 6% ABV and 137 calories. By comparison, Bud Light has 4.2% alcohol and 11O calories, while Budweiser has 5% alcohol and 145 calories. It is thought that the new beer is going to be a craft-styled offering, meant to attract mainstream beer drinkers interested in crossing over to the craft category. While overall US beer sales by volume slipped 1% last year, the craft beer industry grew 11%. With the continuing struggles mainstream beers are facing, big brewers need to strike gold soon and AB-InBev is hoping Platinum helps it do that.
