VALLEY OF THE MOON 2OO8 CABERNET SAUVIGNON

The grapes for this Cabernet Sauvignon came from three Sonoma County appellations.  The largest component – almost half – came from Sonoma Valley.  Roughly 3O% came from Alexander Valley, and the remaining 25% came from Dry Creek Valley.  The vineyard lots were fermented separately in stainless steel and the young wines were aged in small French, Hungarian and American oak barrels for 22 months.  The final blend includes a small percentage of Merlot.  The Cabernet has aromas of black currant, bittersweet chocolate, cedar and herbs.  Concentrated flavors of black currant and French plum are accented by subtle notes of anise and black pepper.  Suggested retail is $18.  Available from Horizon Beverage Company.
