LATER LOKO!

It came, it was controversial, it was banned. Such was the short life of Four Loko, the caffeine-and-alcohol-in-a-can combo that was all the rage on campuses across the country . . . until it started making people violently ill. Following the lead of several other states, the Massachusetts Alcoholic Beverages Control Commission likewise banned alcoholic drinks that contain caffeine. Additionally, the Food and Drug Administration warned four manufacturers of caffeine-alcohol drinks, including the maker of Four Loko, that the caffeine in such beverages was “an unsafe food additive’’ and further action against them was possible. Four Loko has agreed to stop adding the caffeine but it’s unlikely it will be back on shelves anytime soon.
