LAPOSTOLLE RECEIVES CHILE’S HIGHEST HONOR

Alexandra Marnier Lapostolle, founder of the Lapostolle winery in Chile, was named “Commander of the Order of Bernardo O’Higgins” in an official ceremony presided over by Sebastián Piñera, President of Chile, and Jorge Edwards, the Chilean Ambassador to France. The ceremony took place on an official visit by President Piñera to the Embassy of Chile in Paris. Created in 1956, the “Commander of the Order of Bernardo O’Higgins” title is named for Chile’s founding father and is the highest honor bestowed on foreigners who have achieved special distinction in elevating Chile on an international level. In her acceptance speech, Ms. Lapostolle expressed great emotion and pride in receiving this honor from Chile and the Chilean people, highlighting her respect for Chile’s ability to overcome difficult times such as the February 2O1O earthquake. The official ceremony was followed by a reception at La Fragatte Restaurant to celebrate the sixtieth birthday of Alexandra’s husband, Cyril de Bournet, and the bicentennial celebration of the Republic of Chile.
