OPENING DAY at TRURO VINEYARDS

TRURO VINEYARDS opened for the season and as of May 1 will be open seven days a week.  This year the winery will be offering three new wines.  In celebration of the town of Truro’s 3OOth birthday, they have made a red and a white wine called “Truro 17O9”.  The white is a Pinot Grigio, which is crisp, light, fruity and versatile.  The Merlot is soft and round with notes of red plum and cherry. The label for the 17O9 series is a painting of the Highland Lighthouse by Truro painter Robert Cardinal.  Both of these wines will be available in early June.  Additionally, the winery is releasing its first ever Estate Chardonnay that is rich and buttery with hints of vanilla and oak.  A limited number of cases will be available to the public in late April.
In lieu of their former tasting tent, the winery has built a more permanent outdoor tasting pavilion surrounded by a rock wall built by a local mason.  Truro Vineyards also has some new restaurants and wine shops featuring their wines.  Blue Ginger in Wellesley and Davio’s Restaurant in Boston are now carrying Truro wines and they have expanded their sales off-Cape, with the addition of the Blanchards chain of liquor stores in West Roxbury, Jamaica Plain and Revere.
