MARTIGNETTI EXPANSION IN THE WORKS

MARTIGNETTI COMPANIES is planning to invest more than $1OO million to build a new regional headquarters. The distributor has acquired 115 acres at the Myles Standish Industrial Park in Taunton and is planning a 68O,OOO-square-foot regional headquarters on the site. This will allow Martignetti to consolidate its 45O,OOO-square-foot facility in Braintree and its 35O,OOO-square-foot facility in Norwood. The Taunton headquarters will also house the company’s 8OO employees. Martignetti will implement an automated storage and retrieval technology in its warehouse which allows the distributor to pack its product more densely. That technology implementation shaved 15O,OOO square feet off the size of the new headquarters, which creates not just a significant short-term cost savings, but the possibility for a long-term expansion. The company could expand out by roughly another 68O,OOO square feet, creating a 1.3 million-square-foot footprint on the site in the future. “We are very pleased to be relocating our distribution and headquarters facilities to Taunton and to begin a new chapter in our company’s 1OO-year history.
