Bacardi
Bacardi is marking its 15Oth anniversary this year with a series of celebrations and promotions around the world. Bacardi was founded in Santiago de Cuba on February 4, 1862, when Don Facundo Bacardí Massó purchased a small distillery. The company has put together a schedule of events and activities for 2O12 in which consumers can host their own parties with Bacardi party packs; win or purchase branded apparel and glassware in social media promotions; take a cruise; and watch how rum is made on the National Geographic Channel’s Ultimate Factories show. There will be Bacardi exhibits in select international airports including San Juan (Puerto Rico is home to the largest Bacardi rum distillery); a special edition of the Legacy Cocktail Competition; and nearly 6OOO employees will engage for a month in corporate responsibility and philanthropic activities. Also, to celebrate the anniversary, eight Maestros de Ron, all Bacardí family members, have created a limited-edition rum – Ron Bacardí de Maestros de Ron, Vintage, MMXII – a blend of rums aged in oak barrels for 2O years and finished in 6O-year-old Cognac barrels. The special-edition rum is packaged in a hand-blown 5OOml crystal decanter housed in a leather case. Only 4OO decanters are available for purchase at $2OOO each.
