ANOTHER GOLFER GETS INTO THE GAME

Professional golfers seem irresistibly drawn to the wine business. Golfer Fred Couples and winemaker Mitch Cosentino have joined forces, creating Couples & Co, a wine brand from pureCru Napa Valley. Couples first became interested in wine when he was in his 2Os and started talking about a partnership with Cosentino in 2OO8. The first two offerings are a Super Tuscan style Sangiovese and a Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon blend. The Couples & Co 2OO6 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon sells for $6O and the Couples & Co 2OO6 California Sanglovese is $32. Both wines have won several awards at wine competitions. The winery released its first Chardonnay in late November. Couples joins the ranks of pro golfers-turned-winemakers Christie Kerr, Annika Sorenstam, Jack Nicklaus, and Greg Norman, to name but a few.
