OBITUARY – JIMMY BEDFORD
JIMMY BEDFORD, former master distiller of Jack Daniel’s whiskey, died Friday, August 7. He was 69. His body was found outside a barn at his farm in Lynchburg. The apparent cause was a heart attack. Bedford started at the distillery in 1968 and worked in the yeasting, fermenting, milling and distillation areas – becoming master distiller in 1988. Bedford retired in March 2OO8 after spending 2O years as the master distiller supervising the entire operation at the 143-year-old distillery in Lynchburg. He traveled the world as the promotional face behind the product.
